Welcome to the Coffee Wine & Flowers Podcast! …Named after 3 of my favorite things, and to serve as a reminder that life is not just about the work that we do, but also the little things that make it enjoyable.

I wanted to start this podcast to shed some light on what it’s like to be on the inside of building a business around your creative passions, but also to acknowledge the simple joys and lessons learned along the way that make it all worth it.

Whether you’re new here or know me already, I want to say welcome and thank you for listening.

My name is Sarah and I own a wedding floral design company called Mulberry & Moss in Orange County, California. A few years ago, after about 8 years of working in the industry as a wedding designer I began my journey of becoming a floral and business educator – first, through offering group floral workshops, then moving onto 1:1 workshops, and then after the pandemic started in 2020, I turned to sharing my knowledge digitally with my followers on social media. This is when something kind of crazy happened. My follower count grew from 8,000 to over 30,000 people in just a few months. And with that growth came so many questions from others who wanted to further their own floral business journey… Questions about things like pricing, and how to get started, how to reach a higher level of bookings and how to grow your audience on social media.

I felt compelled to answer all of these questions, but there was so much to share. The best thing I could do was start with one step at a time. So I created my first digital product, my floral recipe e-books. Then I created a couple more digital resources, and then eventually I launched my first digital course teaching my approach to floral design.

The responses to all of these resources were amazing but in doing all of this, I still felt like there were so many missing pieces.

I think that for many people who are interested in growing a successful floral business, it feels like there’s this huge web of steps and information and tools and systems and – figuring out how all of those pieces together can be overwhelming. So basically, I wanted to start this podcast hoping that maybe it could connect the dots of how to really build a successful brand, and that it would serve as the string that ties all of those pieces together.

And on top of that, there’s context to the story of how I got to where I am today that I feel could help shed some light as well, like mindset shifts that were made and big picture perspectives that allowed me to view my business as a whole and where I was headed.

And let’s not forget that being an entrepreneur can be lonely. We are taking the road less traveled by. And that road can be a difficult one with not a ton of people to relate to. So at the very least, I hope that this podcast can be a reminder to those of you listening – whether you own a floral business or are starting some other form of creative business – that you’re not alone.

Over the next few episodes, I’m going to share with you a bird’s eye view of some of the mindset shifts that served as huge turning points in my own business. Then, of course I will be digging into the practical tips and strategies that led me to where I am today, which hopefully you can implement in your own business to help you grow your audience, streamline systems to free up time and make things run more smoothly. Lastly, I’ll walk you through different parts of my journey of how I got into flowers and grew my business, for those of you who are curious about what getting into the wedding floral industry looks like. I’m excited to dive into the business stuff but I hope to have some fun along the way. I’m all about living a life of balance and, to me, part of that balance is finding joy in the little things and not taking life too seriously.

I hope this podcast will be the breath of fresh air you need when you’re feeling overwhelmed or even just the little bit of motivation you need to get your day off on the right foot.

Stay tuned, friends. There is so much more to come. I can’t wait to begin this journey with you of building the business of your dreams and finding more peace and joy in your life at the same time. I’ll talk to you soon!
