As the year winds down, the natural pull is to plan ahead: book more clients, revamp the website, and raise your prices “just a little.” But before you build new goals or systems, what if you first paused to ask: Is this business actually working for me?
Not just in revenue but in rhythm, fulfillment, and flow.
Because the most sustainable floral businesses aren’t the ones doing everything. They’re the ones doing the right things, at the right time, for the right people.
Whether you’re in your second year or your seventh, these 9 questions are here to help you evaluate what’s working, what’s not, and what’s ready to shift as you move into 2026.

1. What lit you up this year?
Start here. Because this is the heart of why you started. Look back at your calendar or camera roll and note:
- Which weddings or clients brought you joy?
- What types of designs flowed effortlessly?
- Where did you feel creatively at your best?
Your future bookings should look more like that.
2. Where did you feel stretched too thin?
This is often where the misalignment hides.
- Were you undercharging for the time or scale?
- Did you take on too many projects back-to-back?
- Did you say yes to clients that weren’t the right fit?
Stress and burnout aren’t the cost of doing business, but it can be a signal that something needs to change. Pay attention to what drained you.
3. What were your most profitable projects?
You can love your work and run a business that sustains you. Pull the numbers:
- Which weddings brought in the most profit—not just revenue?
- What made those jobs smoother (planners, venue, budget)?
- Which clients trusted your vision and didn’t nitpick?
Your pricing should reflect more of that.
4. What services or offers drained your energy?
Sometimes we offer things just because we always have. But are they actually serving your goals?
- Do you still want to offer a-la-carte or pickup flowers?
- Is event setup or breakdown wearing you out?
- Are you answering DMs about services you no longer want to offer?
Permission to refine, simplify, or let go.
5. Are your systems making things easier or more chaotic?
A smooth backend is the unsung hero of any floral business.
- Do you have a clear onboarding process?
- Is your proposal or quoting system easy to update?
- Are you scrambling every time someone inquires?
Consider what could be templated, automated, or outsourced.
6. Does your brand reflect where you’re going?
Not where you started but where you want to be booked next.
- Are you showing work that reflects the level you want to attract?
- Is your language polished and aligned with your design aesthetic?
- Do you feel proud of your site, Instagram, and messaging?
Your dream clients should recognize themselves in your brand.
7. What did your best clients have in common?
Sometimes you don’t need to cast a wider net. You need to go deeper with the right people.
- Were they working with planners?
- Did they give you creative freedom?
- Did they find you through a specific channel (referral, IG, SEO)?
There’s data in the dream clients. Use it to refine your marketing.
8. What boundaries do you want to strengthen in 2026?
Growth isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s about protecting your peace.
- How many weddings per month is your sweet spot?
- What days or hours do you want to protect for yourself or your family?
- Where can you clarify expectations earlier in the client journey?
Write these down now, before the inbox gets full again.
9. Who are you becoming?
This is a practice of figuring out what you want, and that can take time to figure out. You learn by doing, experimenting and finding what does and doesn’t work.
- What kind of designer do you want to grow into?
- What level of client do you want to serve?
- What kind of reputation do you want in your market?
Big shifts often start with small, honest answers.
